Complete Plant Scope

Process Limestone into Quicklime and Hydrated Lime Products

A lime production line transforms limestone through controlled calcination. The plant can be configured for quicklime lump, quicklime powder or hydrated lime production according to the intended industry, capacity, fuel availability and finished-product requirements.

CaCO₃

Limestone

The raw material is crushed and screened to a controlled size before entering the calcination process.

CaO

Quicklime

Calcined limestone is cooled, screened, stored or further processed into quicklime powder.

Ca(OH)₂

Hydrated Lime

Quicklime can be hydrated, aged and classified to produce hydrated lime for application-specific use.

Calcination Principle

From Calcium Carbonate to Calcium Oxide

During calcination, limestone is heated under controlled conditions in the kiln. Carbon dioxide is released and the limestone is converted into quicklime, which can then be cooled, stored, ground or hydrated according to the final-product route.

Process Flow

A Coordinated Lime Production Process

The process is configured around the limestone properties, required product type, fuel conditions and capacity target. Each stage contributes to product consistency, stable kiln operation and efficient finished-product handling.

01

Raw Limestone

Material composition, lump size, moisture and impurity profile are reviewed before plant design.

02

Crushing

Large limestone is reduced to a controlled size suitable for screening and kiln feeding.

03

Screening & Storage

Qualified stone fractions are prepared and buffered for stable kiln feed.

04

Preheating

Material is heated before entering the calcination zone where the process requires it.

05

Kiln Calcination

Controlled thermal processing converts limestone into quicklime.

06

Cooling & Storage

Quicklime is cooled before screening, storage or downstream processing.

07

Deep Processing

Produce quicklime powder or hydrated lime through grinding or controlled hydration.

Finished Product Routes

Core Plant Systems

A Complete Lime Plant Is More Than a Kiln

Reliable lime production depends on coordinated raw-material preparation, kiln operation, cooling, material handling, emissions control and finished-product processing.

Crushing and Screening

Prepare limestone in suitable size fractions and support stable material flow into the kiln system.

Lime Kiln System

Provide controlled calcination around the selected capacity, raw material and available fuel conditions.

Preheating and Cooling

Coordinate thermal treatment before and after calcination to support stable processing and product handling.

Fuel and Combustion

Configure fuel supply, combustion control and related systems according to project conditions.

Gas Treatment and Collection

Integrate dust collection and gas-treatment equipment around key process and transfer points.

Storage and Dispatch

Use suitable silos, conveyors, bulk loading and packing systems for the selected lime product.

Equipment Configuration

Configure Equipment Around the Finished Lime Product

The product route determines the downstream system. A quicklime lump project emphasizes calcination, cooling and storage, while quicklime powder and hydrated lime projects require additional processing sections.

FAQ

Lime Production Line Questions

What is a lime production line?
A lime production line is an integrated plant that prepares limestone, calcines it into quicklime, cools and stores the product, and can include downstream quicklime powder or hydrated lime processing sections.
What is the difference between limestone and quicklime?
Limestone is primarily calcium carbonate. Quicklime is calcium oxide produced when limestone is calcined under controlled conditions in a lime kiln.
What equipment is needed for quicklime production?
A typical quicklime plant can include crushing and screening equipment, a lime kiln system, preheating and cooling equipment, conveyors, storage systems, dust collection and product dispatch equipment.
Can a lime production line produce quicklime powder?
Yes. After calcination and cooling, quicklime can be transferred through enclosed handling equipment to a grinding, collection, storage and packing system for quicklime powder production.
How is hydrated lime produced from quicklime?
Hydrated lime is produced by reacting quicklime with a controlled amount of water, followed by aging, classification and finished-product handling as required by the application.
Why are crushing and screening important before calcination?
Controlled limestone size helps support stable kiln feeding and more consistent thermal processing. The required stone fraction depends on the selected kiln system and production target.
What fuel can be used for a lime kiln?
Fuel selection depends on local availability, project conditions, kiln configuration and operating requirements. Fuel supply and combustion control should be evaluated during plant planning.
What information is needed to design a lime production plant?
Please provide limestone composition, stone size range, moisture content, target product, required capacity, available fuel, project location, site conditions and any applicable dust-control or gas-treatment requirements.
